What Happened At PyCon US 2026

PyCon US is the largest and longest running annual gathering of the Python community. We provide an overview of this year's event. PyCon US is produced and underwritten by the non profit Python    Software Foundation (PSF), brining together a diverse attendee base, ranging from absolute beginners to core CPython developers, open source maintainers,    data scientists, researchers and community organizers. This year it took place at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center in Long Beach, California during May 13-19. https://www.i-programmer.info/news/216-python/19155-what-happened-at-pycon-us-2026.html

Monocle: A Framework for Tracing GenAI Application Code

Monocle is a community-driven, open-source framework designed to monitor and trace generative AI applications by capturing data compliant with the OpenTelemetry ecosystem. Governing its development through the Linux Foundation, the project provides specialized tools for developers and platform engineers to instrument code in Python and TypeScript without requiring extensive manual code decoration. https://www.i-programmer.info/news/80-java/18892-monocle-a-framework-for-tracing-genai-application-code.html

Jupyter Notebooks MCP Server

Jupyter gets its own MCP server. The Jupyter MCP Server by Datalayer is a Model Context Protocol server implementation designed to act as a bridge between Large Language Models, AI assistants and a user's live Jupyter environment. What does it enable? https://www.i-programmer.info/news/90-tools/18875-jupyter-notebooks-mcp-server-.html

ggsql: SQL For Visualization

ggsql is a novel data visualization tool that integrates the Grammar of Graphics directly into SQL environments. Built by the creators of ggplot2, this system allows users to construct complex charts by adding declarative clauses like VISUALISE, DRAW, and SCALE to standard database queries. Unlike traditional tools that offer fixed chart types, ggsql employs a modular approach where independent components—such as layers, coordinates, and aesthetics can be combined to create custom visuals. https://www.i-programmer.info/news/84-database/18862-ggsql-sql-for-visualization-.html

Learn concurrency - a deep dive into multithreading with Python

This article explains concurrency in Python including topics like multithreading, multiprocessing, race conditions, and synchronization mechanisms such as locks. We’ll then take a deep dive into switching off GIL to enable  real  multithreading in Python, highlighting the differences, the benefits and the gotchas with clear code examples. https://blog.geekuni.com/2026/04/python-concurrency.html

Python for Java developers

Python. Even if you close your eyes and try to ignore it, you really can’t; it’s everywhere, especially in the AI and Data Science fields. Therefore, it has become a necessity to get to know it, even if you’re a Java developer enjoying its rich and large language ecosystem. Despite the fact that lately Java has been powered up with great AI libraries like LangChain4j, which make it easy to build AI-powered applications, in order to tap into the full, unconstrained pool of AI capabilities, you still need to go to Python. https://blog.geekuni.com/2026/02/python-for-java-developers.html

Toad-Pythonic Universal Terminal Interface for AI Agents

Wouldn't it be great to have an interface that could work with any AI agent? Toad is Python's answer to a unified front-end for the many AI coding agents out there. Toad, not to be confused with the Oracle IDE, aims to provide a more pleasant experience for the user of Agentic coding tools. The notion is that each tool comes with its own interface, its own quirks, and its own limitations.  https://www.i-programmer.info/news/90-tools/18619-toad-pythonic-universal-terminal-interface-for-ai-agents.html

Deepnote Goes OpenSource

Deepnote, hailed as the Jupyter Notebook successor, is now open-sourced after 7 years running as a sole cloud offering. The main pain point that Deepnote addresses is the limitation of the single-player notebook. Jupyter's age means it was created in a pre-cloud, pre-collaboration and pre-AI era. The times now require reactive and collaborative tools that integrate into your existing stack https://www.i-programmer.info/news/216-python/18467-deepnote-goes-opensource-.html

GraphRAG With Python And Neoj

Use this Neo4J GraphRAG library to build your own knowledge graph-based applications. But why GraphRAG, the concept, in the first place? GraphRAG is an advanced RAG technique which consumes structured and unstructured documents to create knowledge graphs which extract context on top of the vectors. It's that property that renders graph based RAG to provide highly relevant answers to the users' questions. https://www.i-programmer.info/news/105-artificial-intelligence/18050-graphrag-with-python-and-neoj.html

NVIDIA CUDA Dive Using Python

NVIDIA adds native support to CUDA for Python, making it more accessible to developers at large. CUDA is, of course, NVIDIA's toolkit and programming model which provides a development environment for speeding up computing applications by harnessing the power of GPUs. It's not easy to conquer since it requires the code to be written code in C++ and as C++ by default is not user-friendly and difficult to master, these properties subsequently rub off on the toolkit itself. https://www.i-programmer.info/news/80-java/18040-nvidia-cuda-dive-using-python.html

Zasper - The JupyterLab Alternative

Zasper is a supercharged IDE written in Go that allows you to run data science workloads locally and efficiently. Zasper started out as a front-end interface to JupyterLab like many others, but ended up as a ground up implementation of the Jupyter project. It is written in Go and implements the Jupyter wire protocol to talk to the underlying IPython notebook kernels via zeromq sockets.  https://www.i-programmer.info/news/90-tools/17778-zasper-the-jupyterlab-alternative-.html

Take Microsoft's Python Web Apps Course For Free

Microsoft has launched a free self paced course on building web applications with Python, addressed to total beginners. And this is done using the Flask, Django and FastAPI web frameworks. But before jumping into server side Python and the details of the frameworks, the lessons commence by taking us a tour on how the Web actually works. Simple http requests and responses and what the roles of the Clients and the Servers are and what kind of resources are actually returned by the Server to the Client, mainly HTML, CSS and JavaScript. https://www.i-programmer.info/news/87-web-development/17482-take-microsofts-python-web-apps-course-for-free.html

Get Started With Ollama's Python & Javascript Libraries

New libraries allow you to integrate new and existing apps with Ollama in just a few lines of code. Here we show you how to use ollama-python and ollama-javascript so that you can integrate Ollama's functionality from within your Python or Javascript programs. https://www.i-programmer.info/news/105-artificial-intelligence/17232-get-started-with-ollamas-python-a-javascript-libraries.html

Wasmer's py2wasm Compiles Python To WebAssembly

py2wasm is a compiler that turns your Python code into WebAssembly, "running it at 3x faster speeds". Let's make something clear first. The official announcement from Wasmer states that by turning you program to Webassembly with py2wasm, it runs at "3x faster speeds". What it important to understand is this is in comparison to CPython WASM (CPython interpreter inside of WebAssembly), not native CPython. As such, it is an improvement over the current state of running Python programs in WebAssembly. https://www.i-programmer.info/news/87-web-development/17191-wasmers-py2wasm-compiles-python-to-webassembly.html
