Postgres And Kubernetes Together In Harmony

Yes, they can coexist thanks to CloudNativePG, the PostgreSQL Operator for Kubernetes. Furthermore, if you want to try before you buy you can, thanks to the new learning environment, CNPG Playground. https://www.i-programmer.info/news/84-database/17555-postgres-and-kubernetes-together-in-harmony.html

Falco On Track To Version 1.0.0

Falco is a cloud native runtime security tool for the Linux operating system, designed to detect abnormal behavior and warn of potential security threats in real-time. Now it's about to release its first stable version. https://www.i-programmer.info/news/141-cloud-computing/17087-falco-on-track-to-version-100.html

Eclipse JKube 1.16 Goes GA

Eclipse JKube makes deploying your Java application to a Kubernetes cluster a breeze. Let's find out what's new. Eclipse JKube is a library and a collection of plugins used for building container images using Docker, JIB or S2I build strategies. It can also generate Kubernetes and OpenShift resource manifests which can deploy them into a Kubernetes cluster. https://www.i-programmer.info/news/80-java/17099-eclipse-jkube-116-goes-ga.html

Constellation - The First Confidential Kubernetes

Edgeless Systems secure the cloud's workloads by releasing the first runtime encrypted Kubernetes, able to run on a multitude of cloud providers. Edgeless Systems is a pioneer in the world of Confidential Computing. Last year in "EdgelessDB - Taking Database Security To The Next Level", I covered its security-oriented database which is 100% compatible with MySQL and enhanced with confidential computing capabilities based on secure enclaves on Intel SGX chips. There was a lot of terminology to assimilate in that article and as a refresher:  An enclave in simple terms, is a hardware sandbox that provides runtime protection of the data it encloses. EdgelessDB uses it in order to execute trusted and secure code on untrusted environments such as cloud platforms and already there's an integration of EdgelessDB on the Azure platform. An enclave itself is, in fact, just an instruction in the CPU architecture provided by modern CPUs. Confidential computing is a concept that t...

Kalix-NoOps High-performance Microservices and APIs

What Kalix Platform-as-a-Service promises is massive - a way to write cloud applications based on Kubernetes under a unified API abstracting the lower layers away. We know that Kubernetes is magic, but at the same time hard - hard to setup, hard to configure, hard to operate, hard to write applications on, and this difficulty is a reason of why many are reluctant to let go of their monolith for the microservices world: “Complexity in the cloud ecosystem is slowing down engineering and development teams,” said Jonas Bonér, Lightbend’s founder and CEO. “Kubernetes does an excellent job managing, orchestrating, and ensuring availability and scalability of containers, but that’s only half the story. ”There needs to be an equal investment in the application layer to make it easier for the developer to build complete applications that take full advantage of all the excellent underlying cloud infrastructure we have at our disposal. Kalix is the solution to this critical issue.” Und...

The DevOps Master Class - Go Behind The Concept

Î¤his free course by John Savil, a true Master, is 12-hours of superb material on everything you have to know in order to incorporate devops into your workflow. It really is a complete and structured resource covering every aspect of DevOps, code included. As it is structured it is meant to be watched in order, but that's just a recommendation. Starting with the definition of DevOps, Savill shows that it is not just about the tools: DevOps is the union of people, process, and products to enable continuous delivery of value to our end users full article on i-programmer: https://www.i-programmer.info/news/90-tools/15006-the-devops-master-class-go-behind-the-concept.html

Learn Kubernetes by Example

Looking to understand Kubernetes and cloud native development? Here is a free and continuously updated online collection of resources on everything Kubernetes, by RedHat. Kubernetes as the forefront of Cloud native development is all the rage right now. I outlined its importance in my preview of Udacity's newest Nanodegree,  Udacity Cloud Native Application Architecture Nanodegree  and  in  my write-up , I describe that the Kubernetes (the Greek work for Captain) ecosystem is comprised of a number of elements: full article on i-programmer.info

The Cloud Native Application Architecture Nanodegree - Foundations

I n cooperation with SUSE, Udacity is launching a new highly practical, project-oriented Nanodegree to learn how to design and deploy microservices by leveraging cloud native tools and patterns. The  Cloud Native Application Architecture  Nanodegree aims to: Meet the growing demand for cloud native architects and learn to identify the best application architecture solutions for an organization’s needs. The program, which is at intermediate level, will take four months with 10 hours per week effort and has as its pre-requisites some familiarity with HTTP, Python, Git, Linux, Docker. While this program is now up and running, with a session starting on June 16 and thereafter at regular intervals, Udacity invited students who wanted an introduction to Cloud Native Applications to participate in a 2-month Cloud Native Application Foundations course. This forms part of Scholarship Challenge Phase paving the way to one of 300 full scholarships to the complete Nanodegree. f...

Kubernetes for Full-Stack Developers

If you are interested in using containers, in particular Kubernetes, Digital Ocean has provided a  self paced, and free, community curriculum and there's also a  fun introduction from the Cloud Native Foundation. Before you jump into DO's tutorials, there's a more fun alternative resource which introduces the total newbie, including kids, to the same concepts. It's the  The Illustrated Children’s Guide to Kubernetes  by the Cloud Native Foundation starring Phippy, Goldie and Captain Kube and is:   dedicated to all the parents who try to explain software engineering to their children. full article on i-programmer
